TriChief was founded by Chief Robert Handy (Ret.), an industry leader in policing, having served for more than 30 years in law enforcement in three jurisdictions: Phoenix, Arizona, and the cities of San Bernardino and Huntington Beach, California. Chief Handy has extensive experience in all aspects of policing, having worked and led various specialty assignments throughout his career at multiple levels, finishing his policing career as the Chief of Police in Huntington Beach.

 

Since retiring from policing in late 2020, Chief Handy has been working in the policing industry as a consultant and trainer. Chief Handy has utilized his expertise in State Court cases, Federal Court cases, Administrative Arbitration cases, and internal agency reviews as an expert witness. Chief Handy has also been a consultant in departmental assessments, audits, and business development for companies doing business with law enforcement agencies.

 

Chief Handy was a teacher at the university level in Criminal Justice for more than 20 years, first at Arizona State University and then at California State University Long Beach. In addition to teaching at the university level, Chief Handy has been an instructor in various topics for new officers, veteran officers, supervisors, command staff, and police chiefs.

 

Chief Handy’s policing and teaching experience led to TriChief Consulting, a public safety consulting firm designed to assist law enforcement agencies, businesses, and others working in the public safety environment.
